Karalyn E. Hillebrecht, DO, is a trauma and acute care surgeon with the AHN Surgery Institute. She specializes in performing emergency surgery and providing critical care for critically injured or ill patients. She applies best-practice trauma and surgical critical care techniques and procedures to help ensure quality, long-term patient outcomes. Dr. Hillebrecht went to medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She completed residency in General Surgery at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, followed by fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Hillebrecht is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is affiliated with the American College of Surgeons.
