Dr. Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew
Dr. Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew is the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategic Social and Workforce Programs Officer at AHN/Highmark Health, and a nationally-recognized expert in obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN). Dr. Larkins-Pettigrew also serves as the Academic Chair of the Department of Obstetrics/ Gynecology, at the Drexel University School of Medicine.
She provides personalized care and has a specialized focus on maternal health as well as women and birthing people whose health care needs are often underserved, including those living with HIV.
Her experiences as a nurse, distinguished professor, naval officer, global health strategist, and obstetrician-gynecologist specializing in global health issues bring a unique perspective to her role.
Dr. Larkins-Pettigrew attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed an OB-GYN internship at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. She also completed an OB-GYN residency at Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh and earned a master’s degree in public policy management at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Policy & International Affairs. She has a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master’s in education from California State University in Long Beach, California.
She sees patients 13 and older, and practices at the AHN Federal North facility, as well as West Penn Hospital.
