Surgery
4.8star(14 comments)

Dr. Fakhry received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and completed a residency in general surgery, at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. He stayed at South Florida for a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery.

Dr. Fakhry completed more than 1,000 cases during his training, mostly gastrointestinal surgery with emphasis on laparoscopic and minimally invasive approaches. He is also experienced in trauma, acute care, vascular, and thoracic surgery. He developed expertise in bariatrics by focusing on laparoscopic and robotic surgery, sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and complex revisional bariatric surgery.

He is also involved in clinical research, particularly studies into how bariatric surgery can reverse non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is directly related to obesity and the number-one cause for liver transplants.

Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, Dr. Fakhry is impressed by the tremendous impact weight loss surgery has on patients, resulting in prolonged and improved quality of life.
